As a painter and a plastic surgery patient, myself, it's almost impossible not to see the talent inherent within some surgeons. Particularly in cases of corrective surgery. It does seem that they create awe-inspiring masterpieces with a human canvas. The show mentioned in the article is intriguing and, hopefully, will dispel some of stigma and stereotyping associated with plastic surgery procedures. My only concern is....well....artists create according to their vision. Their standards and ideals. Painting, writing, sculpting, and other mediums allow for a certain degree of self-centeredness and arrogance in the creative process. Thinking of surgeons as artists, as accurate or true as it might be, makes it sound somewhat as though they are serving themselves, rather than their patients. Great story to cover! Certainly food for thought!
