Some people are saying that Tilda Swinton showed up for the Oscars without any makeup. This is unlikely. But as Patricia Mclaughlin notes, Tilda Swinton was one of the very few actresses "to show up on the red carpet looking like a real person instead of a confection created from scratch by a crack team of stylists, trainers, dietitians, surgeons, Botoxologists, corsetieres, facialists, makeup artists, hairdressers, etc. She didn't look anything like anybody else, which you'd think would be a huge advantage for a movie star, especially with everybody else looking so interchangeable."
