Virtual Flowers are for Lightweight Love

Submitted by Meg Wilson on February 14, 2008 - 12:09.

1-800-flowers.com has set up a new web site BokayMe just for people who want to send virtual flowers to their friends. It's either free or up to three dollars for an extra special bouquet.

Susan Wu of Charles River Ventures in Menlo Park says "sending a virtual flower is a way of showing lightweight attention and affection to someone online." She's been following the amazing growth of the virtual gifts market and estimates that the virtual-goods market amounts to about $3 billion.
