Check out the WeightView.com site for more ways to see your before and after weight loss image. At this site there is a free service where you can submit your photo and tell them how many pounds you'd like to lose. They will send you back an 'after' photo of what you might look like after weight loss. I'm not sure what the catch is and how they can offer this for free. The site seems to be down right now because there are so many visitors. Has anyone tried it?
My programming-savvy friend says that someone who is very familiar with Photoshop could alter a photo in the limited way it's done here in less than five minutes. So is it possible they've hired a small army of programmers (maybe in India) to alter each photo for $1 per photo? ($12 dollars pay per hour). Here you can see how this idea may start to make sense from a marketing point of view. They are paying $1 to get you a 'free after weight loss photo' but in return they get your valid email address from which you've sent them your JPG photo. Then they can pitch countless weight loss products to your email address. As marketers in many different fields are willing to pay substantially more than $1 per valid and targeted email address, this idea may not be too far fetched.
Or they may be basing their revenue model on ad earnings they will make if people join their community site and create lots of content and lots of web traffic. This may turn out to be one of the better marketing ideas of the year in the weight loss arena if it works for them. It's definitely generating a lot of big media interviews and attention.
