IPL Helps Reduce Rosacea

Submitted by Meg Wilson on February 27, 2007 - 08:51.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the newest technique in photofacial therapy. It consists of high intensity pulses of light (not lasers) that can help to greatly enhance skin rejuvenation. It also stimulates new collagen growth.

Whereas deep laser resurfacing can require several weeks of downtime to complete healing, the IPL photo rejuvenation technique is a gentle and noninvasive procedure.

It's one of the potential ways to get rid of facial spider veins, rosacea, age or brown spots and large pores.

The improvements you'll see with one session are subtle. Dr. Vignjevic says a series of 5 treatments (spread over five months) is recommended for most skin types and body areas.

Although many dermatologists and other cosmetic surgery clinics offer IPL now, it's hard to determine from their web sites how effective it is for the average person in terms of reducing rosacea. And the before and after photos you see above are photos supplied by the manufacturers of the IPL machines. Has anyone reading this had personal (positive or negative) experience with IPL?
