Gastric bypass surgery has become so popular recently that now we are seeing a huge growth in post gastric bypass surgeries to get rid of the 'apron of skin' that patients end up with once they've lost dozens of pounds in a short time period.
Forbes Magazine has a really good article on this today.
They quote one surgeon as saying that many people are unprepared for the radical changes in their bodies after they have gastric bypass surgery. "When they come in," Orgill says, "a lot of these patients say, 'They never told me my skin would look like this,' and they never would have gone through the bypass procedure [had they known]."
The surgeries required to get rid of the excess skin can cost $50,000 or more.
