Here's Sela Ward on a magazine cover at age 53. In the video clip below she discusses her experience starring in the new movie, "The Stepfather".

A few years ago Ward wrote a charming memoir about her rise from small town Southern girl to Hollywood celebrity; Homesick: A MemoirShe wrote this book in her early 40's (her youngest of two children was born when she was 42) and here's what Publishers Weekly had to say about it;

This earnest memoir by Ward, the 46-year-old star of the 1990s sitcom hits Sisters and Once & Again and spokesperson for Sprint long distance, juxtaposes a jet-setting Hollywood image with a smalltown Mississippi past. More sugared up than a glass of Southern iced tea, the book will surely build Ward's reputation with her TV fan base, as it doesn't delve deep into Ward's psyche or tell all about the biz. It's targeted at the women Ward grew up with in Meridian, Miss. the same women she wants to reunite with now that she's returned there to begin settling down, loaded with cash, a Los Angeles venture capitalist husband and their two children.

The fascinating trajectory of Ward's ideal American woman's life she went from cheerleader and homecoming queen at the University of Alabama to fashion model and fixture of New York nightlife should intrigue readers who can relate to culture shock. There's also a smattering of intelligently researched treatises on civil rights and on the contemporary crumbling of social bonds. A portion of the book's proceeds will go to a foundation for abused and neglected children that Ward founded last year in Meridian. Her overly saccharine tendencies notwithstanding, Ward gives readers a cute story of a small town girl's rise to celebrity.

We've been reading a lot about Michael Jackson over the past day and this article at Slate.com is the best we've seen. They basically say Michael Jackson was committing suicide, albeit a slow suicide over many years. They talk about his painful childhood years and his rise to fame. They also mention his physical transformation;

... an entirely transfigured physical appearance, morphing from an engaging and handsome African-American man into a misshapen Eurasian woman; his skin bleached, his face re-sculpted; his nose, finally, needing to be practically taped onto his face. He left his race behind and, in a sense, his family too. (The nose, which seemed to have borne the brunt of his obsession with plastic surgery, was his father's.)

Michelle Pfeiffer graces the cover of InStyle's July issue. She turned 51 years old a couple of months ago and is now starring (in a cougar role) in the upcoming movie 'Cheri'.

Two big surprises are Daryl Hannah, who looks as though she may have severly overdone the use of dermal filler in her cheeks and Kellie Pickler who looks as though she's had a very extreme brow lift.

Here's a video of Susan Boyle singing Memory in the semi final performance for Britain's Got Talent today, May 24th. Her voice doesn't come across as astounding as during her first performance but her dress and makeup are startlingly pretty. Kudos to the makeup artist who created this look. Here's a Scarlett Johannson inspired makeup video tutorial. Johannson has gone from blonde to brunette and has a new makeup look. Katie Stiles shows us how to get Scarlett's look as seen in the current hit movie "He's Just Not That Into to You" (see the book). Scarlett Johannson is the spokesmodel for L'oreal and that's the makeup brand that was used for this video by Before and After TV.

Octuplet mom, Nadya Suleman, is an Angelina Jolie look-alike and has almost surely had a nose job and lip augmentation.

This is the opinion of plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Youn . He writes;

I think she looks like a combination of Angelina Jolie and Alanis Morissette. Her lips are huge and may be the result of aggressive fat grafting. It's possible that people who have a large amount of fat grafted into their lips find their lips become excessively large when they become pregnant. Their tummy is not the only thing that grows! Her nose may also have had some work done, making it smaller and thinner than it was before. Without any "pre-surgical" photos, it's difficult to say for sure, but I think she's had both a lip augmentation and a rhinoplasty.

One of his readers found a high school photo of Suleman. It does look like Dr. Youn is probably right.

Update: The lips are probably natural. Suleman says she is not trying to copy or look like Angelina Jolie and that she has not had any cosmetic procedures done on her lips. She told NBC last night;

"I have never thought of Angelina Jolie except the last time I saw one of her movies. I think that was years ago. It is so far away from the place I'm in right now to think of think of any celebrity."

She also denied having her lips cosmetically changed.

“I wore a girdle,” Alba told Elle magazine for its March issue, when asked about how she looked slim after childbirth.
