Joridn Sparks was the grand winner of American Idol tonight. She is only 17 years old. (Her 18th birthday is not till December 22nd). She is obviously extremely talented but also very beautiful and has already enjoyed a stint as a plus size fashion model.

Are her beautiful lips real or have they been enhanced with Restylane or some other filler? If anyone knows or has a before picture, this would be very interesting info. Here's a video of her singing a few weeks ago on American Idol.

Upper lip augmentation can be tricky and if not done right will look quite awful. Here are before and after upper lip augmentation pictures. This procedure was performed by Dr. Davidson in Boston.

Have you ever wanted to try plumping up your lips temporarily to see how they might look if they were a little bigger? CareFair suggests a novel way to try this with the cayenne pepper in your kitchen cupboard. They suggest mixing some Vaseline together with a pinch of cayenne pepper. Then rub the mixture over your lips. The cayenne pepper acts as an irritant that plumps the lips while the Vaseline will help to moisturize them.

Here's a video about the different procedures for lip enhancement. The temporary solutions are fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm. A more permanent solution would be a silicone lip augmentation. In this five minute video, plastic surgeon Dr. Lam discusses how you want to avoid the overdone look and what it takes to keep your lips looking natural.

Here's Janice Dickinson, 52, modeling a bit too much lip. Probably a result of too many Restylane or Jevederm lip injections.

Juvederm is the most concentrated form of hyaluronic acid you can find for your lips. It was approved by the FDA in June of last year and is in the process of taking market share away from Restylane. The lip enhancement results last between four to six months.

Clive James has this to say about Pete Burns and his lip injections;

He'd had that thing done that people who want new mouths do. They don't want new mouths in the sense of a mouth like the old mouth, only young again. They want a new mouth in the sense of a different mouth, a mouth that has been seen nowhere on earth except below sea level.

Pete Burns had the advanced version. I switched Big Brother on accidentally one night and there he was, so I switched it off immediately, but not before having my retinas seared with the image of one of those car-sized fish that lurk deep below the reef, waiting to ingest the brass boot of a deep sea diver.

Here is beautiful supermodel Karolina Kurkova modeling freshly injected super lips at a gig on behalf of Victoria's Secret. (We speculate only.)

Lisa Rinna, 45, has always had naturally larger than average lips but it looks like she's recently gone overboard with the lip injections. Above is a photo taken earlier this week where she's dressed in a pirate costume for a Halloween do. The 'before' picture is from many years ago when she was starring in Days of Our Lives.

Brigitte Bardot probably had the sexiest lips of the 20th century. And that was before Restylane. She looks a bit like Jessica Simpson but if the two starred in the same era, there would likely be no competition.

Too bad her physical beauty isn't matched by a compassionate mind. Her recent political views are considered very offensive by many people (including yours truly).

The BBC reported today that Bridgitte Bardot is making a big comeback in Universal's recently released back music catalogue. Bardot singing 'Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus' is in the top five downloads for sale.

Bardot was born in 1934. Here she is in a 1960's model shoot and singing on a Harley Davidson motorcycle;

Dr Rita Rakus is known as the "London lip queen". She's a very successful cosmetic surgeon in Knightsbridge, just opposite Harrods.

She's worked for several TV shows including Plastic Fantastic, Lunch-Hour Facelift and Celebrity Fat Club.

Rakus says the trend is moving away from an overdone look to a more subtle lip, except if you're a celebrity, an American or an Italian. In which case, baboon lips are still acceptable. She says there are about 300 different fillers on the market, but the best is restylane.

Although a lot of women come in seeking Angelina Jolie lips, she tries to steer them more to the Keira Knightley look (pictured above). She estimates Keira Knightley has about 10 percent less lip volume than Angelina Jolie.

Dr. Youn left an interesting comment on this site earlier explaining that injecting lips with Restylane or collagen is increasingly common these days especially for certain professions;

"...it is EXTREMELY common for models and actresses to have collagen or restylane injected into their lips. Because it doesn't take much time, leaves no scars, and can make some major changes, many celebrities get their lips augmented on a regular basis."

It looks like Petra Nemcova has been injecting collagen or some other substance into her lips. See the bigger photo here at Hollywood Tuna. I'd be very interested to hear from one of the pros, maybe Dr. Tony Youn or Dr. Di Saia as to their verdict on whether these lips are natural or enhanced.

Petrova, 27 is a Czech supermodel and author. She was in Thailand when the tsunami hit. She clung to a palm tree for eight hours and survived with serious injuries. Her fiancee died there.

She's written a book; Love Always, Petraabout her early life experience under Communist rule and the Sports Illustrated breakthrough in her modeling career. The book also details how she met her fiancee and their brief life together.

Anne Hathaway, 24, looks like a cross between Julia Roberts and Audrey Hepburn. But those lips have got to be artificially induced. I'd guess massive injections of either collagen or Restylane. Here's a fun preview of her in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada". The movie came out a couple of months ago and was very successful, peaking at #2 in box office sales. Meryl Streep, 57, is wonderful in this role. The silver hair really suits her and looks very chic.

Jessica Simpson has said she used Restylane to plump up her lips last fall. But she said it looked fake on her and after it wore off in four months she decided she wouldn't be trying it again. Simpson discusses this in the upcoming October issue of Glamour.
