Lifestyle Makeovers for Americans

Here's a telling comment from someone on another blog referring to the new financial reality in America.

Yes, Americans spent on credit cards. Our salaries couldn't pay for what we needed. Someone got sick. Hospital bills had to be paid. Children wanted to go to college. Then came dentist bills, orthodontia, summer camp (oh, we "little people" aren't supposed to take vacations or send our children to summer camp, I know, I know). Oops, now we need a new water heater, new roof.

The salaries don't stretch far enough -- even when two people are working full time, and at least one has a second job. This is reality.

Drive through the boros of New York -- drive through New Jersey, down to Florida, up through New England, across this country. What you will see are endless, endless -- swaths of poverty, poverty, and more poverty. That's what the U.S.A. has become.

Sit up in your comfy offices sneering at your fellow Americans all you want. You are few in number and you will have to keep isolating yourselves -- to keep from noticing what has become of the "richest country on earth" and to keep from caring.

Trillions to bankers and Wall Street fraudsters. Trillions for wars in the Middle East. Billions for Israel. No complaints about that!
