There is a surprisingly large demand out there for high-end luxury cell phones. The Vertu phone you see pictured here is the most expensive of all of these and sells for $73,000 at Neiman Marcus. Here's the little blurb about it at their site;
Next time the BFF tries to show off her 15-minute famous TV/PDA/phone, whip this little beauty out of your purse and just lay it on the restaurant table, like a pistol. "This? Oh, just my Vertu Signature phone. Works in more than 150 countries. That? One-touch 24-hour global concierge service. Those? Diamonds; 7.2 carats; white and pink. Yep, set in 18-kt. rose gold. He had it made to order for me! From that fabulous designer Frank Nuovo. Oh, extremely rare; just 100 in the entire world."
Vertu will probably sell about 200,000 luxury cell phones this year at an average price of about $8,000 each. And sales are growing at over 100% per year.
