Breast Implants are Not 'Easy'

An ad being displayed around the U.K. subway system has been banned. The ad showed a woman in a bikini. She was grinning in the 'after breast enlargement' photo.

The ad said "Gorgeous breasts just got easy with cosmetic surgery...".

A number of the complaints, including one from a doctor, said that it was misleading and irresponsible to promote a surgical operation to young women as "easy" without warning of the risks.

See the story here.

Yes, it is irresponsible to proclaim that breast surgery is easy. It is surgery, after all, with risks to learn about and a recovery process.

But at least when you choose a board-certified plastic surgeon, check their references, and otherwise do your homework, you can be reasonably certain your breast augmentation procedure will be straighforward and give you the results you want.

You should always check out a prospective doctor's before and after photos too. See my surgeon's pictures of his Jackson, Michigan breast enhancement patients here .

I have to agree with Edie. What kind of moron would say that any surgery is "easy"? That's just setting women up for disappointment and regret. I work with a Lake Forest plastic surgeon who offers the latest breast implants for his Chicago breast augmentation patients. From what I've read, most women are very happy with the results of their breast augmentation procedure, but I bet very few would call the experience, including the surgery and recovery, an "easy" one. It is a serious surgical procedure and should be viewed in that light.

So breast surgery isn't easy. Let's all agree on that one. A plastic surgeon I've done some work for would be the first to agree that his patients have a number of considerations to address, not the least of which is a couple of weeks of recovery, longer for some women and some procedures.

On the other hand, there have been numerous studies that show breast augmentation, in particular, can offer significant self-esteem benefits for many patients. Click over to this surgeon's San Diego breast enhancement page--he has a couple of references there you might find interesting.

For some reason I just can't seem to get that link right. Let's try it one more time.
