Julie Roehm is Fired for an Affair

Wal-Mart is accusing Julie Roehm of having an affair with her married subordinate. They've gone as far as getting his wife (who initially sought divorce but has changed her mind) to give them some emails she had printed from her husband's private gmail account. The rumor is that WalMart withheld Sean Womak's $200,000 bonus until his wife came up with the emails. They want the emails as proof that Roehm and Womak were having an affair. Are affairs explicitly prohibited as a condition of employment at WalMart? Is this something 'illegal' that a company can legally enforce?

Julie Roehm was the senior vice president of marketing at WalMart until she was fired in December. Although WalMart is reporting that she was fired for other reasons as well, the affectionate emails between the two co-workers they've made public seem to be the central evidence in their case.
