A Deflating View of Silicone Breast Implants

MediThai has a good summary of the additional unexpected costs you can incur with a breast implant operation. The average price of breast implant surgery in the US is about $5,000. But you can expect to spend significantly more than this in the long run. For example; Allergan found that 41 percent of first-time implant patients had at least one significant complication within four years, including 23 percent who needed another operation to fix breast hardening, pain, swelling, scarring, asymmetry, rupture or other problems. For patients replacing an existing implant, the complication rates were even higher — 57 percent.

The article sure made me think. Sounds like implants are a real temporary solution. Does anybody know of a place where they offer a package that includes removal? Sounds like you can get them for 2 - 3 years and then better have them taken out again before problems start...

I've had breast implants (half saline, half silicone) since 1987, did everything the doctor told me to do for post-op, & never had any problems with them. I've yet to see any implants on medical documentaries that look as well done as mine were.

The key to success is to do your homework on finding a reputable, well-established doctor, then following his post-op instructions to the letter.
