Cosmetic Surgery Addict Confessions

Alex Kuczynski and her new book about cosmetic surgery obsessions are featured in this month's AVENUE magazine. AVENUE targets a very niche readership. The magazine gets delivered to about 52,000 people in Manhattan each month. It's focus is on the lifestyles of the rich and socially powerful people in Manhattan.

AVENUE says they dominate "in key Manhattan zip codes" and are "a must-read at the most exclusive buildings along Park Avenue, Madison Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Beekman Place, Sutton Place, Central Park West and Central Park South".

According to Liz Smith, some people who've been described in Kuczynski's book are not pleased about it. They'll be reminded again when this issue hits their doorstep.

Update: Beauty Daily found an interview Alex Kucsynski did with USA Today today. Here she explains her regrets about the cosmetic beauty obsession she pursued over the years. She says;

I hope to never have surgery again. What I'd like to do is try to find out what my normal face looks like — my natural self — and see what happens from there. During writing this book I gave up dyeing my hair. I gave up stupid things like acrylic fingernails. I gave up getting the mist tan. I gave up getting a manicure and pedicure once a week. I have reclaimed hundreds of hours out of my year and thousands of dollars. And the best part of all is my hair looks a lot better.

I feel just nauseous and sad that I spent 10 years of my life dyeing my hair blond. I regret having liposuction because it was a small amount of fat and it hurt a lot. And I really still feel guilty about the money I spent. Having my upper eyelids done is slightly different because they were so puffy that it sometimes felt hard to hold them open. I feel bad about having spent thousands of dollars on Botox over the last 10 years."
