Here are two photos of Paulina Porizkova. One in her modelling prime in 1987 and the other for W Magazine's upcoming September issue.

Porizkova, 41, was born April 9, 1965 in Czechoslovakia. Her parents fled the country and left her with grandparents when she was three years old, thinking they could get her soon, but were not able to bring her to Sweden until seven years later. Her parents divorced shortly after she rejoined them in Sweden. She started modeling in Paris as a teenager and became a top model very quickly.

The gaps in her teeth were her trademark early in her career. But she's had them corrected since then.

In 1988 Paulina received what was then the highest-paying modeling contract, $6 million per year for Estee Lauder. In 1995 Estee Lauder replaced her with Elizabeth Hurley.

Just last year she modeled for the first time for Victoria's Secret catalogue. She's currently writing a book; A Model Summer, about a fifteen year old model in Paris.

Porizkova has been married to Ric Ocasek since 1989. They had met five years previously, when he was still married to his ex-wife. They have two sons born in 1993 and 1998. Her husband has said he thinks she lost her true calling when she became a model. He thinks her true calling was to be a librarian.
