I received my first reader comment on this brand new site today in reference to a post about celebrity plastic surgery. As this is a brand new site, I thought the first comment might have extra significance;

"Old people should look old"

This phrase says a lot in a few words. Should I let it impact on the future direction of this blog? I look forward to hearing from more people soon.

As someone who works with plastic surgeons every day, I strongly disagree that "old people should look old." Instead, I think everyone should be able to look they way they want to look. Your appearance is a big part of how you define yourself as a person, and if a part of your appearance is not the way you want it, plastic surgery can help. For instance, there are many women who choose breast reduction in Indianapolis. Should these women be forced to live with uncomfortably large breasts, even though surgery is safe and possible? I don't think so, and I don't see the difference between this and other procedures that help keep people looking young.
